Rosso della Pezia

Made from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, harvested and fermented separately. Aged two years in French oak barriques, followed by at least another two years in the bottle. A deep ruby red in colour, with highlights varying from purplish to garnet, it presents the nose with a bouquet of spices, liquorice and vanilla, as well as red fruit; great structure abounding in flavour and tannins. For pairing with prestigious meat dishes and well-aged cheeses.

How it’s made: from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, fermented and then aged two years in 225 l French oak barriques followed by two years in the bottle.

Sensory qualities: a deep ruby red in colour, with highlights varying from purplish to garnet as the wine ages. Bouquet of spices, liquorice and vanilla, red fruit. A wine of great structure, abounding in flavour and tannins, it ages well in the bottle.

Food pairings: a classic accompaniment to prestigious meat dishes, it is also perfect for sipping with a well-aged cheese. Uncork in advance and enjoy at 18°, in a large, wide glass if possible.

Label: the ancient origins of the Pecis family are evoked in this wine dedicated to an illustrious ancestor, a certain “Rosso della Pezia” who founded the house in the twelfth century. The label created by illustrator Sarolta Szulyovsky depicts the family’s coat of arms, a crenellated castle with a green tree.
